food rescue driver
The Crystal Lake Food Pantry is looking for a few additional people to drive our Food Rescue Trucks on Saturdays. We need people who would be available from 7:30 – 9:30 am to go with a partner to various stores in the community. No special license is required and on the job training will be provided. The ability to lift a minimum of 40 pounds is required. Interested individuals should contact Tanya Hill at tnthill@comcast.net.
bread delivery
The Crystal Lake Food Pantry is looking for a few individuals to make bread deliveries to Food Pantries in McHenry County using your own vehicle a few times a month. These pantries have expressed a desire for bread but have no way to pick up the bread that they want. The deliveries will need to be made on the day of the week that these other pantries are open, either Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday mornings. If you are interested, please contact Jason Weisenberger at Director@clfoodpantry.org or call the pantry at 815-455-0961.
monday bread sorting
As many of you know we are now picking up bread from Aunt Millies in Des Plaines. We are looking for 4-5 people who would like to form a Monday Bread Sorting team. The Monday Team will meet on the First and Third Monday of the month between the hours of noon and 4 pm (time is dependent on the truck schedule) with the goal of having the bread sorted so that we know how much can be given to the other McHenry County pantries on Tuesday. A Tuesday Bread sorting team will meet on the Second and Fourth Tuesdays from 11 am until 2 pm and a Thursday Bread sorting team will meet from 4-7 pm. On the job training will be provided. We are looking for people who can make a consistent commitment to the sorting team of their choice as we have found that efficiencies increase by using the same team week after week. Please contact Jason Weisenberger at Director@clfoodpantry.org to volunteer.
home delivery drivers
Home Delivery drivers wanted. Does the thought of delivering food to a homebound individual make you smile! Being a Home Delivery driver might be the perfect volunteer job for you. As the home delivery requests are called into the pantry you would be contacted for your availability. You are provided with all the information to make the delivery using your own vehicle. You will need to be able to lift grocery bags (30-40 pounds) and take them to the front door of the home. It would involve 4-6 deliveries a month and you can specify specific days of availability (ie. Only Mondays). Contact Joanna Bradshaw at frontdeskmanager@clfoodpantry.org to let her know of your availability.
