Mission Statement...We are a Catholic family, living our awareness of Christ’s presence through worship, service, evangelization & community for the benefit of all.
As we get closer to Easter, the Knights of Columbus are encouraging families in the parish and surrounding community to attend the Good Friday liturgy at the St. Thomas Oak Street Church on Friday April 15 at 12:10PM and 7:30PM.
The noted 5th-century African bishop Saint Augustine of Hippo famously said, “We are Easter people, and ‘alleluia’ is our song!” Pope Francis, too, has spent a good amount of his pontificate encouraging his flock to not be joyless Christians “whose lives seem like Lent without Easter.”
But we also cannot become Christians who ignore the suffering and the cross of Jesus Christ, because to ignore his cross is to ignore the crosses of so many of our brothers and sisters in the world, the sufferings in our own families and communities, and the fallen human nature that still tries to seep into our hearts.
Please help our families, friends, and neighbors to understand Easter without the cross is superficial, just as the cross without Easter is joyless by asking all those we care deeply for to join us at our Good Friday liturgy this year.
